TROPICAL PARADISE BOHOL SETS THE STAGE FOR SIXTH SUN LIFE 5150 BOHOL AND GO FOR GOLD SUNRISE SPRINT

Over 600 athletes from 11 countries will converge on the white sands and wide  roads of Bohol

PANGLAO, Bohol (July 08, 2023) – Hailed as the perfect race-cation venue, Bohol will  once again welcome athletes for the sixth year of the Sun Life 5150TM Bohol  Triathlon. Known for its stunning natural landscapes, pristine beaches and vibrant  culture, racing in picturesque Bohol is always enjoyable and memorable.

“The 5150 Triathlon in Bohol is a premier event that brings in athletes and their families  into our islands each year, supporting and providing a valuable boost to local  businesses. The province is forging ahead in cementing Bohol as the race destination  to host world-class events,” said Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado of the Province of  Bohol.

The 5150 Bohol, consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride, and a 10- kilometer run, and will see almost 400 triathletes in action, mostly from the 25-44 age  group. Families and friends of athletes will not only enjoy the exciting spectator sport,  but they can also take part in other events in the locality as the race is included in the  annual Sandugo Festival.

“Events like the 5150 Bohol are important not only to the triathlon community but to  the local community and we are thrilled that we’re back in action once again. We look  forward to sharing our stunning beaches, and beautiful coastal roads, and now, being  one of UNESCO’s First Geopark in the Philippines, visitors get to see the interweaving  of nature and progressive quality of life in our community through sports and lifestyle  events, said Cong. Vanessa Aumentado.

This festival celebrates the 1565 Treaty of Friendship signed between Datu Sikatuna,  the chieftain of Bohol, and Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, the Spanish conquistador. Along  with the 5150 race, some of the highlights of the celebration are the 169th anniversary  of Bohol’s birthday and the ‘mardi gras’ street dancing competitions.

For three years, Sun Life Philippines has partnered with The IRONMAN Group in  bringing the 5150 events to Naga and Bohol. “Sun Life is always eager to offer  opportunities for Filipinos to enhance their health and wellness. This is why we are

happy to support the Sun Life 5150 Triathlon for the third time. This race not only  allows participants to put their skills to the test, but it also inspires others who follow  their journey. And when they learn to value their health more, the better they will  understand why health protection plans are crucial in living healthier lives,” said Ms.  Carla Gonzalez-Chong, Sun Life’s Chief Client Experience & Marketing Officer. This  year, Sun Life Health Ambassadors Piolo Pascual and Matteo Guidicelli will participate  in the race, to promote physical and mental health and well-being through a sporty  lifestyle.

5150 Bohol’s partner since 2014 in making the race experience complete in the  tropical paradise is the Bellevue Resort.

“The Bellevue Resort is honored to be the venue host and partner for the 5150 triathlon  event since its beginning in Bohol. We are committed to offering the participants and  their families an exceptional ‘race-cation’ experience through our world-class facilities,  stunning natural surroundings, and warm Boholano hospitality. We are grateful for the  privilege to offer this year’s participants an unforgettable race experience while also  spending quality time with their loved ones,” said Dustin Chan, Managing Director of  The Bellevue Resort.

Along with 5150 Bohol, the Go For Gold Sunrise Sprint offers a shorter course  featuring a 750m open-water swim, a 20km bike ride and a 5km run. Top elite athlete  scout and Go For Gold Vice President Mr. Jeremy Go will be in attendance as Go For  Gold continues to pursue the discovery and support of talents all over the country.

“It’s going to be a great weekend with age group athletes, the crowds, and the  volunteers. Bohol is an amazing place, so it’s going to be a great event,” Ms. Princess  Galura, President of The IRONMAN Group and Sunrise Events said. “5150 Bohol has  become a tradition for its participants and the local community. Apart from being  accessible from anywhere in the country, Bohol has that distinct relaxed vibe that is  friendly for beginners or those going back to the sport, and for those who are tuning  up their game mid-season.”

Other participating celebrities and notable athletes to watch during race weekend are  Paul Jake Castillo, last year’s 5150 Bohol winner and Satar Salem, Bea Quiambao  and Erika Burgos.

The Sun Life 5150 Bohol is supported by Sun Life, and Go for Gold Sunrise Sprint is  supported by Go for Gold.
